Dec 3, 2020 | Shankra Sri Lanka

Shankra Festival 2022 will be a 7-day musical celebration taking place in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.

This article gives you an insight into a few practical things to keep in mind before your journey into this idyllic island.

VISA

If you are planning to come to Shankra Festival in Sri Lanka 2022, make sure to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), if required by your country, prior to your arrival to Sri Lanka or a visa in advance. Make sure that you hold a passport valid for at least 6 months, a confirmed return ticket and sufficient funds for your stay in the island.

MONEY

The Sri Lankan currency is the rupee (Rs)

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in the island and ATM facilities are plentiful in towns; however, pay attention to the exchange rate and check whether you have a credit card with a foreign transaction fee; we advise you to always have enough cash on you for safety. Remember that amounts over 15’000 USD have to be declared on arrival!

HEALTH

Vaccinations: be sure to check the required vaccinations before departure Health Insurance: a travel or health insurance policy is essential. You may require extra cover for adventure activities, such as scuba diving. If your normal health insurance doesn’t cover you for medical expenses abroad, get extra insurance. If you’re uninsured, emergency evacuation is expensive, and bills of more than US $100,000 are not uncommon.

Availability & Cost of Health Care in Sri Lanka: Medical care, and its cost, is hugely variable in Sri Lanka. Embassies and consulates often have lists of recommended medical providers. Elsewhere in Sri Lanka, hotels and guesthouses can usually steer you to a local doctor for at least initial treatment.
